Born on the 4th of July. . .

This cake/cupcake order was for a first birthday.  It also just so happened to be Independence Day.  The mom wanted something patriotic, but also something free of bright blue and red icing that would have wound up all over every child by the end of the party.  Sprinkles and fondant solved that problem.  I think it still turned out pretty festive. :)

 A dozen strawberry....
A dozen vanilla, a dozen chocolate...
And of course the smash cake!

There were a variety of cupcake flavors for guests to choose from.  All were iced in vanilla buttercream.

Stars and Stripes and Fireworks

I had some family in from out of town over the Fourth of July...perfect excuse to bake a big cake!

Vanilla layers colored to be red, white, and blue, all filled and iced in buttercream and covered in fondant.  The accents on the cake are all fondant as well.
