This cake/cupcake order was for a first birthday. It also just so happened to be Independence Day. The mom wanted something patriotic, but also something free of bright blue and red icing that would have wound up all over every child by the end of the party. Sprinkles and fondant solved that problem. I think it still turned out pretty festive. :)
A dozen strawberry....
A dozen vanilla, a dozen chocolate...
And of course the smash cake!
There were a variety of cupcake flavors for guests to choose from. All were iced in vanilla buttercream.

Physician Assistant Cake
My wonderful husband is currently in PA school, so for his birthday I made him a white coat cake complete with stethoscope.
The cake was french vanilla filled with a vanilla cream and fresh cut strawberries. It was iced in strawberry buttercream and covered in marshmallow fondant. Strawberry is Brian's favorite, so it works out pretty well that his birthday is in June. I love that summer brings an abundance of fresh strawberries with it. Delicious!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
Knoxville's 3rd Annual Great Cake Bake was this weekend. The cake bake is held to benefit Knox County Imagination Library. For those of you unfamiliar with the Imagination Library program, it was founded by Dolly Parton and allows for every child in the state of Tennessee to receive one age-appropriate book in the mail every month from birth until five. It is a wonderful program! Anyone can enter the cake bake. The cakes are judged in different categories and are also available for sale. Although it is not a requirement, I wanted to make a cake based on a children's book. I chose one of my childhood favorites that was sure to be bright and colorful. This is the result!
I did not win any categories, but my cake was already sold when I arrived! I was so happy to support such a great cause. Both tiers are chocolate cake covered in fondant. The letters are also fondant, and the tree is modeling chocolate.

Tangled Tower
This was for a 6-year-old girl's birthday party. She loves the movie Tangled and all things Rapunzel, so that is the inspiration for the cake.
Chocolate cake filled and iced in buttercream. The tower is made from cake cones, sugar cones, and cereal treats with fondant and modeling chocolate decorations. The trees are sugar cones.

Too Many Cookies!
I wanted to make something special to bring to my parents' house over the holidays. After searching several different sites online, I found the inspiration for this cake. Loved it!
The chimney is chocolate and vanilla layers filled and iced with buttercream. Santa is chocolate cake covered in fondant with cereal treat legs and boots. The accents (bricks and belt) are also fondant.

Owl Cupcakes
A friend of mine has a 2 year old niece who had her heart set on Minnie Mouse cupcakes for her upcoming birthday...that is until she saw pictures from her 1st birthday. She realized, to her horror, that she had Minnie Mouse last year. She quickly changed her tune and decided that she wanted OWLS.
Chocolate and vanilla cupcakes iced in buttercream. The owl's are also made with Oreos and M&Ms.
